Melbourne Cup - Fashions on the Field

Well Spring has sprung here in Melbourne which can only mean one thing…That the Spring Racing Carnival is on countdown.  Gather your frocks, fascinators and high heeled shoes, this is when Melbourne comes alive with fashion, colour, food and entertainment.  The main race takes place on the first Tuesday of November however there are plenty of races and different days to choose from as well as events to attend.

So the big question everyone is asking is what to wear?  What will this year’s trends be? Who will be wearing what colour? What is the latest dress style? And what should you dress your man in?

Over the coming weeks we will put in our picks, favourite combinations and all things cup related so you can be prepared and look fabulous.

Knowing Melbourne weather can be unpredictable and so it is important to be prepared.  We have the perfect answer. Our wrap made from Bamboo is not only warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s warm but it also is 50+ SPF…What does this mean for you? Well if the sun comes out you can cover your shoulders to ensure they do not get burnt from the Australian Sun and our wrap comes in a cute little bag which will fit in your handbag. They look great come in a range of colours and are perfect to match back with any dress.

If the weather turns – and it does, I am sure those that attended last year will remember the wind causing havoc to those with a fascinator.  So again we introduce our wrap made from bamboo it is anti-static and thermo-regulating with the added bonus of being Breathable and antibacterial what more could you ask for.

Still not sure that this is the perfect accessory for the races well I have pulled together some of my favourite outfits combined with the wrap.

Look 1 (Left): Black floral dress with embroidered flowers, coral shoes and Watermelon Wrap (Wrap available online now for $69.95)

Look 2 (Right): Black floral dress with embroidered flowers, black lace shoes from Zara and Watermelon wrap (Wrap available online now for $69.95)

The Watermelon wrap is one of my personal favourites it matches back to most things in my wardrobe. It’s great through the colder months as it adds a bit of warmth to the skin and always looks good with Navy and Black.  In summer it ties in with all the coral shades that can be found on the retail shop floor.  It suits most skin tones and even looks good with a crisp white shirt and denim jeans. As pictured above though looks great as a spring racing carnival accessory.

Look 3 (Left): Black pleated dress with lace bodice, black lace heels Zara and one of our latest colours of the wrap Fuchsia (wrap available now online $69.95)

Look 4 (Right): Black pleated dress with lace bodice, black lace heels Zara and one of our latest colours of the wrap Midori  (wrap available now online $69.95)

My personal preference here is the pink – perhaps as I already have a lot of accessories that tie back or maybe it

Is because it really pops with the black.  My favourite colour is green though but I find the green is a little more serious and subdued.

Look 5 (Left): – Sha-de Noosa dress in Indigo $129, Animal print heels BCBG and our best seller Sha-de wrap in Cherry  (wrap available now online $69.95)

Look 6 (Right):  – Sha-de Noosa dress in Indigo $129, Animal print heels BCBG and Straw hat.

Look 7- Lace dress, coral shoes, Sha-de wrap in Truffle (Wrap available now online $69.95)

The Sha-de wraps are so versatile and such an easy accessory to have on hand.  We have so many colours and there is sure to be one to tie back to a dress you have or want to buy.

Stayed tuned for more Melbourne Cup Madness.
